Eldridge's New Chart From Chatham New Harbor to West Chop Light. Founded upon a Trigonometrical Survey from 1851 to 1892 by George Eldridge, Hydrographer. Boston, Mass: S. Thaxter & Son, 1893. Lithograph in black and red, printed area 680 x 102mm, with ink stamp of chartseller Edward C. Lord. On the reverse are pasted a publisher's title label and two adverts. A few nicks to edge of the wide margins,
A chart of the south coast of Cape Cod from Falmouth to Chatham, with the eastern hafd of Martha's Vineyard, Chappaquiddick and Nantucket. George Eldridge (1821-1900) specialised in sea charts of New England based on the official U.S. Coastal Surveys. He business was continued by his son, George Washington Eldridge (1845-1914). The seller's stamp belongs to Edward Clifton Lord (1858-1934), ship chandler of Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard, who was the official retailer of the Eldridge charts under G.W. Eldridge.
