[Set of World & 6 Continents.] Paris, A. Combette, c.1845. Outline colour on the maps. Seven steel-engravings, ea. c.310 x 410mm.
A fine set of 7 maps, each map with original outline colour, within a highly decorative engraved border, with vignettes of costumes and animals. They were published in one of the last decorative atlases, the 'Atlas Universel Illustré' which, unlike earlier sets, has grouped the East Indies, Australasia and the Pacific on one plate, 'Océanie'. On the map of the Americas Texas is a republic: the population table gives it a population of only 200,000.

A fine map within highly decorative engraved borders, with medallion allegories of the Four Seasons and vignettes of gods, goddesses, mythical figures, astrological symbols and animals. It was published in one of the last decorative atlases, the 'Atlas Universel Illustré'.

Steel engraving, published in the Atlas Universel Illustre, with a highly decorative engraved border. Vignettes include the wildlife of North America, from polar bears and Newfoundland dogs to bison and alligators, a ship stuck in ice and a steam train crossing a bridge over a high gorge. Despite the date Texas is not named on the map or listed in the population table underneath.

A detailed, large and decorative map of France showing all major cities and towns and the routes between them. With an inset of Paris in the top left hand corner and a table listing each "Département" and its chief city in the top right hand corner. The whole map being surrounded by a decorative border with engraved vignettes illustrating regional dress and showing a picturesque view of a town for each region with its corresponding coat of arms alongside.
