A stylised view of the Battle of Bunker Hill, in which the British dislodged the besieging colonial forces from Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill, which threatened to blockade Boston Harbour. The casualties, particularly among officers, from three frontal assaults resulted in a Phyrric victory for the British. This view was engraved by John Lodge after George Henry Miller, for Edward Barnard's 'The New, Comprehensive and Complete History of England'. The first edition was published in 1781, while the American Revolutionary War was still being fought.
