Folding antique map of the provinces of Torino and Aosta, then part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, with six inset plans of the important cities, including Turin, Aosta, Pinerolo, Susa, Ivrea and Biella. Despite the date of 1852 the dedication King Charles Albert would suggest that it was originally published before the 1849 revolt against Austria, after which he abdicated, dying shortly afterwards in exile.

In 1861 Nice was incorporated into France, part of the price paid by the Italians for French support in the war for independence from Austria. Despite the date of 1852 the dedication King Charles Albert would suggest that it was originally published before the 1849 revolt against Austria, after which he abdicated, dying shortly afterwards in exile.
