A Statistical, Political, Minerological and Modern Map of Italy Containing All the Post Roads, Post Stations, Distances of Posts, and Cross Roads, Together with the New Divisions. according to the Latest Treaties, Dedicated to the Emperor of Austria. London, M.A. Leigh, 1832. Fine original colour. Dissected and laid on linen, issued as a folding map; total 1230 x 730mm, publisher's ads on endpapers, with slip case with publisher's label. Some offset.
Antique map of Italy. An English edition of Orgiazzi's map, originally published in Paris in 1816, itself a reduced version of the 52-sheet map by Louis Bacler D'Albe. Published during the movement for unification that developed at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, it is dedicated to the Emperor of Austria, Francis II (1792-1835), who was one of the nationalists' main opponents, along with the pope.
