[Two gores from Coronelli's 18" diameter globe.] Venice, c. 1693. Two plates, sheets 390 x 170 (at most).
Two contiguous globe gores from the Northern Hemisphere of an 18" globe. The western sheet shows Greenland (with the mythical 'Frobisher's Strait'), the Grand Banks, the Azores and the Cape Verde Islands, with vignettes of Eskimos, canoes and seals. T the eastern sheet shows Iceland, the British Isles and North Sea, France & Netherlands, Iberia and Africa including Algeria and thew Gulf of Benin. The edges of the sheets suggest they were issued separately, and not in Coronelli's 'Il Libro dei Globi'.

Large, decorative map of Madagascar, engraved in Coronelli's unique style, also showing part of the Mozambique coastline, the Comoros Islands and Reunion. Two decorative cartouches on the lower edge. The verso has Italian text and a smaller image of the island. Coronelli was a Franciscan friar; appointed General of the Order in 1701. He was also cosmographer to the Republic of Venice and founder of the Academia Cosmografica degli Argonauti, which was the world's first geographical society. In addition, he was one of the most prominent mapmakers and publishers of his day.

Highly decorative two-sheet map of Scotland in Coronelli's unique style. Each sheet has a title within a cartouche, the southern sheet a scale cartouche, the northern sheet a table of counties and towns on a hanging banner.

Le Royame de Hongrie divisé eb Haute et Basse Hongrie, avec L'Esclvonie, Subdivisees en leurs comtez. Paris, Jean Baptiste Nolin (II), 1742. Original outline colour. 445 x 595mm. Dissected and laid on canvas as issued , old ink mss. label on canvas.
Originally published by Jean Baptiste Nolin in 1687, this example was published by his son (also Jean Baptiste), with the date revised to 1742 and Nolin's collaborator Tillemon's name added to the advert. The cartouche, encloses the title, scale and advertisment for Nolin's stock, shows a Hapsburg army breaching the fortified walls of an Ottoman-held city.

Large, decorative map of Malta and Gozo, engraved in 1689 in Coronelli's unique style and published in his 'Isolario'. Surrounding the islands are 62 engraved armorials, including the Knights of Malta. On the reverse is a small plan of Valetta set in text.
