Giacomo Franco's map of Cyprus, first published in 1597 and again with text by Giusseppe Rosaccio the following year, here republished in Alfonso Lasor a Varea's 'Universus Terrarum Orbis Scriptorum calamo delineatus'. Nicosia is marked, illustrating the star-shaped defensive walls of the city. See BCCF: 40 for first issue.

A frontispiece from 'Peregrinus In Jerusalem', the account of the 1718 journey of German monk Angelicus Maria Myller from Rome to Jerusalem then on to Troy, Gallipoli, Constantinople, Syria then back to Rome via Malta. This plate is a summary: it shows Myller riding a donkey into Egypt, with a bird's-eye view of the eastern Mediterranean behind, marking 'Caromania' (Turkey), Syria and Cyprus. 'Terraque Marique’ roughly means ‘by land and sea’.

A detailed map of the island, marking the different uses of the agricultural land, created when Napoleon III of France had plans to appropriate the island as a naval base with which to control the Eastern Mediterranean. A highly-influential map, with information still being used by cartographers when Cyprus became a British protectorate a quarter of a century later. IOANNOU COLLECTION: 83.

Large map of Cyprus, marking details as small as mills, ruins and tombs. Listed bottom right are ten maps Mas Latrie consulted while compiling this map. Jacques Maries Joseph Louis de Mas Latrie visited Cyprus in 1844-5 and published a three-volume History of Cyprus, Vol II in 1852, III in 1855 and, perversely, the first volume in 1862, in which this map appeared.
