Amsterdam. Paris, c.1650. 385 x 525mm. Top edge expertly rebuilt with some mss. fill to the printed border and title.
A rare French prospect of Amsterdam from the Amstel, with the landmarks named in the plate and the foreground filled with the merchant ships that gave the city its wealth. Underneath is a short description in Latin and French. The restoration is only visible when held up to the light.

Overijssel, with decorative cartouches for the title, key and scale. This example is a marriage of the the correct map and text: if the wrong map was printed on a sheet of text it was cheaper to stick the right map on the text rather than reprinting the text. The glue appears to have caused the paper to brown. Published in the 'Atlas Contractus', a two-volume atlas, published two years after Jansson's death by his son-in-law, Jan Jansson van Waesbergen. A map of the polders in North Brabant on the course of the river Meuse between Greveceur and Ravenstein. It has decorative cartouches for the title, scale and blank text box, and an armorial featuring a cow. An unusual map, i is more often seen as the reissue by Pieter Schenk jnr.
