This is a scarce edition of the reduced version of Mercator's map of Iceland, published in Henri Du Sauzet's edition of the Mercator/Cloppenburg atlas ( 1734). With mount Hekla in the midst of a fiery eruption, a cartouche surrounded by wildlife, sailing ships, whaling scenes and a fantastic furry sea monster at top right.
