A lovely example of this scarce map of Hungary, engraved by Jan van Doeticum Jnr for Visscher in 1624, but this example published by Hondius in the first full edition of his atlas to contain this map (although it previously appeared in an Appendix of 1630). It focuses on the conflicts between the Holy Roman and Ottoman empires for control of the country: the larger towns are marked with crosses or crescents depending on which side had control of them.
