Cambrai from the Civitates Orbis Terrarum, the first atlas of printed town plans, with the major buildings shown in profile, with little consideration for perspective.
This is the second view of Cambrai by Braun & Hogenberg (the first appearing in 1588), and commemorates the Spanish capture of Cambrai from the French. The town was returned to France by the Peace of Vervins in 1598, the year of publication.
