A Tree of Porphyry, a diagrammatic device used to display the branches of human thought, with the arts, sciences and virtues.
It was engraved by Pinchard (whose signature is on a rock in the water) for 'Collegii Salmanticensis FF. Discalceatorum B. Mariae de Monte Carmeli Primitivae observantiae', a book about the 'Discalced Carmelite' order.
