Botero (1540-1617), was a Piedmontese priest, geographer and Secretary to the Duke of Savoy. His text on geography was regarded as the best for over a century, with 17 editions in its first ten years. It was more than just a geography, as Botero also discussed political history and economics.
The 100 maps are those engraved for the 1598 pirate edition of the Ortelius Epitome, also published by the Compagnia Bresciana.
