A large and colourful map of Europe, decorated with a title cartouche of Europa with the bull and other allegorical figures representing plenty. To the left another cartouche features the arms of Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Portugal. Bottom right is a text about the longitude problem, with a map sphere.
The map was originally published by de Wit c.1690, with a sur-title, side panels with 18 views and plans of principal European cities and a letterpress text underneath. Surviving examples of that issue are exceedingly rare; any edition is uncommon.
