Detailed map of the states of the south USA, east of the Mississippi, with Tennessee, North & South Carolina, Georgia and East & West Florida. The map was published the year that Spain ceded West Florida to the USA in the Adams-Onís Treaty; although the USA did not taken control until 1821 west Florida is already coloured as parts of Mississippi and Alabama.
This example is on paper watermarked '1818 J Whatman Turkey Mill'. Whatman's paper was the best quality printing paper available at the time.
