John Nash's plan for a new street linking Carlton House, the palace of the Prince Regent (later George IV) to his new estate in Marylebone, now Regent's Park. Orientated with north to the left, it was engraved by Bacon for 'Some Account of the proposed Improvements of the Western Part of London, by the Formation of the Regent's Park, the New Street, the New Sewer &c'.
It shows Carlton House and Pall Mall north to the proposed Piccadilly Circus, with the curve of the Quadrant to take the road away from St James's Square in the south and another to join it to Portland Place in the north. The outlines of the old streets are shown to show how they were to be affected.
