A very fine example of Cook's map of the South Pacific, engraved by Glassbach for a German edition of Hawkesworth's important work 'An Account of the Voyages... for making Discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere', which contained the official account of Captain Cook's First Voyage around the world. It marks the routes of Byron, Mouat, Wallis, Carteret and Cook, between 1765 and 1771. Cook's discoveries around New Zealand and eastern Australia are particularly detailed.
