An unusual view of the Eastern Hemisphere as if looking from space, with the outlines of Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia with whips of cloud. It was published as the frontispiece of 'Researches in Theoretical Geology' by De la Beche (1796-1855), who became the first director of the Geological Survey of Great Britain the following year.
