An unusual early 18th century map of Central Asia

A circular map of Central Asia, encompassing Arabia, the Caspian Sea and India, edged by the signs of the Zodiac and with borders featuring cherubs and windheads. There are no names on the map: instead the land is filled with animals including a unicorn, elephants and leopards, and the seas with crocodiles, fish and monsters.
The map was drawn by Johannes Delger and engraved by Joseph Montalegre as a frontispiece to 'Geographia Naturalis', the first part of the 'Atlas Novus' by Heinrich Scherer, a Jesuit mathematician and geographer.
