An allegorical frontispiece representing Venice, with architectural features including St Mark's Campanile and the Rialto Bridge, and symbols of power including the Arsenal and the Bucentaur.
The map was drawn by Johannes Delger and engraved by Joseph Montalegre as a frontispiece to 'Geographia Naturalis', the first part of the 'Atlas Novus' by Heinrich Scherer, a Jesuit mathematician and geographer.
