A New Map of Great Tartary, and China, with the adjoyning Parts of Asia, taken from Mr de Fers Map of Asia. Dedicated to His Highness William Duke of Glocester.

A map of Russia east of the Volga river, also showing the Caucasus, Persia, northern India, Mongolia, Korea, Japan and 'Ezo'. The insets give alternative versions of the 'Ezo' conundrum, according to Martino and Verbiest.
Wells was tutor to William, Duke of Gloucester (1689-1700). The son of Princess Anne Stuart, he died aged 11, before his mother became queen of England. If he had lived longer he might have secured the Stuart succession.
