A very fine example of this map of Sri Lanka, based on Delisle's map of 1722, with a title cartouche featuring two cornucopiae representing natural wealth. The Latin title above the map still refers to 'Taprobana', the Roman name for the island they knew as the source of cinnamon but never visited.
