A map of Sichuan, based on the map supplied by Martino Martini, the Jesuit missionary who travelled through China 1643-1650, and published in the 'Novus Atlas Sinensis', the first Western atlas of China.
The title cartouche features two Chinese warriors; the scale cartouche has two allegorical figures of rivers, one probably representing the Yangtze.
