A scarce English edition of a Dutch map of the Americas

The Americas, first published in the Mercator/ Hondius 'Atlas Minor' of 1607. In 1621 the printing plates were sold to a London publisher and appeared in 'Purchas His Pilgrimies' in 1625. The plates were then used in an English translation of the Mercator atlas, 'Historia Mundi', as this example, with the letterpress sur-title 'America' .
Later Dutch editions used new plates by Jansson.
