An uncommon map of of the world, engraved by A. Recurti and first published as part of a set with the four continents in 1699. California is shown as an island; in the North Pacific Jesso and Companies land are conjoined; and Frobisher's Strait crosses Greenland.
The upper cusp is filled with the arms of Giovanni Francesco Barbarigo (1658-1730), Bishop of Verona, surmounted by two leopards, to whom the map is dedicated. In 1730 he became a cardinal.
