A rare 17th century panelled map of Germany

Lower left corner margin repaired. A fine impression.

A carte-à-figures map of the German Empire, extending from the Low Countries east to Prussia, with Silesia, Bohemia, Austria and Hungary, with parts of Switzerland and nothern Italy. Down the sides are equestrian portraits of the Holy Roman Emperor and the Electors; along the top prospects of Heidelberg, Mainz, Cologne, Prague, Speyer & Vienna, flanking a roundel portrait of Emperor Ferdinand II; along the bottom are prospects of Frankfurt am Main, Nuremberg, Strasbourg, the Kaiser's Hof (Prague), Augsburg, Erfurt and Leipzig, with the arms of the Empire and Bohemia.
This example is a first state, from the first atlas issue, with Koeman listing only one more edition before the date was removed for a third and final edition. It was replaced by a map by Henricus Hondius,
