A fine example of the Vienna edition of Seutter's 'Atlas Novus'

Vienna: Johann Peter von Ghelen, 1728. Folio (560 x 360mm), full calf, gilded pastedowns; pp. (viii), engraved title and 26 double-page maps, all in fine original hand colour, as called for, all but the celestial map with letterpress gazeteers, 24 with numbered vellum tabs (all but three letterpress, celestial & world not included).
An early example of Seutter's atlas, published before he was made Imperial Geographer by Karl VI in 1731. It contains a celestial map, world and continents, Turkish Empire, Holy Land, the other 18 European countries.
Each map is accompanied by an alphabetical index as a double page printed sheet. A handsome book to add to a good atlas collection.
