Christopher Wren's plan for the rebuilding of London

WREN, Christopher.

Sir Christopher Wren's Design for re-building the City of London, after the Great Fire in 1666: _ from an original Drawing in the Library of All-Soul's College, Oxford.
London: Luke Hansard, 1800. Original colour. 400 x 715mm.

Faint creasing in wide margins.

Wren's optimistic plan for the rebuilding of London, with straight roads and grand junctions, built around a new Royal Exchange and St Paul's Cathedral. The plan shows the line of the City walls and the extent of the devastation of the Great Fire.
Although nothing came of the plan, mainly due to huge costs involved, it was still considered important enough for this version to be included in a Parliamentary report on plans to improve the Port of London, perhaps as an example of a missed opportunity.
