A detailed Victorian detailed map of the Indian Ocean from Mozambique to Sumatra, including Madagascar, the Seychelles, Réunion and Sri Lanka, with a large inset of Mauritius. Decorative vignette views include Madagascar, Mauritius, Réunion, Sri Lanka and Prince of Wales Island (Penang).
The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin for the 'The Illustrated Atlas, and Modern History of the World, Geographical Political, Commercial & Statistical', edited by Montgomery Martin, which was one of the last decorative atlases to be published.
