An elegant map of China derived from Blaeu, representing China bounded in the west by the Great Wall, Korea is depicted as an island. With a decorative title cartouche and shipping vessels decorating the seas.

Decorative map of China, with ornate cartouches for the title and scale. Van Loon's map first appeared in Jansson's 'Atlas Novus' in 1658, and as a late addition to the atlas is relatively uncommon. This example was published by Schenk & Valk from the 1690s, with their names added under the vignette sea battle.
