TERMS OF SALE / CANCELLATION/ RETURNS 
All items in our on-line catalogue are offered “subject to prior sale”.
Items can be ordered on-line using the shopping cart provided or by phone. Orders are dealt with in strict order of receipt.
All goods remain the property of Altea Gallery Limited until payment has been received in full.  Goods will be shipped soon after clear funds have been received.
If the purchaser wishes to cancel the order prior to receiving the goods, this can be done before the goods have been shipped and a full refund will be applied. However cancellation of the order must be received at:  info@alteagallery.com
Once the goods have been shipped, any item can be returned to us (at the buyer’s expense) for a full refund if found unsatisfactory for any reason, as long as we are notified in writing within 14 days from the date of receipt, at info@alteagallery.com. Refunds are limited to the original purchase price, including initial delivery costs and will be applied once the goods have been received back and are in the same condition as originally sent. Any refund requests outside the 14 days will be subject to a 25 % re-stocking fee and will be subject to our approval. 
 

PRICING / VAT
All prices are quoted in UK Pound Sterling (£/GBP). Sales tax (VAT) is included where applicable. Under current UK regulations, printed books, antique maps, charts and town plans are Zero Rated (0%) for VAT purposes; decorative prints and globes are charged at the standard current VAT rate of 20 %
VAT REFUND FOR EXPORT: if applicable VAT will be deducted from the quoted price for all exports outside the European Union, and for European Union businesses registered for sales tax in their country, provided they supply us with their valid VAT/TVA/UST/IVA number at the time of placing the order.

Prices in US Dollars and Euros
All items are priced and sold in GBP (British Pounds). Any Euro or US Dollar figures quoted are based on daily exchange rates and are shown for information only. Your bank will use its own exchange rate so the total you are charged may differ.

SHIPPING
Shipping for orders over £600 is free, with the exception of bulky items, such as globes and books. Please request a shipping quote for these items.
Shipment costs below the £600 threshold will be at the customer's expense. Orders are generally sent by either UPS courier, or Royal Mail recorded delivery. All shipped items are expertly packed and fully insured.

CONDITION / GUARANTEE
All items offered are guaranteed original antiques, or vintage items, published at or around the date specified. We do not sell reproductions or facsimiles.
A Certificate of Authenticity and Antiquity is provided to our clients for every item we supply. Each item is in good condition unless otherwise noted in the description, allowing for the usual minor imperfections of antique material. Care has been taken in noting serious flaws.
We are members in good standing of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association (ABA), British Antique Dealers Association (BADA), and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB). We observe the highest professional and ethical standards, and abide by the ABA Code of Good Practice.
 

COLOURING
All items are black & white (uncoloured) unless otherwise stated. “Original colour” means that the item was coloured by hand at or around the time of publication; “old colour” means early but probably not original; "coloured" means the item was coloured later and at any time in the last 100 years.
 

SIZES
All Measurements are expressed in millimetres and are taken to the plate mark unless stated, height by width. (100 mm = approx. 4 inches)
