A chart on a scale of 1:80,000, showing the intricate network of rivers and estuaries on the coasts of southern Georgia with the border with Florida. It marks, Darien, St. Simon's Island, Brunswick, Jekyl Island, Cumberland Island to St. Marys and Fernandina.
Originally published in 1867, this example has been updated to 1886. A pasted label warns: 'Mariners are cautioned not to follow this Chart in crossing the Bar at Fernandina Entrance, as the Channel has recently shifted to the Southward April 20th 1886'.
After being drawn by the Lindenkohls, four engravers prepared the plate: one cut the outline, another on the lettering and two on the sand!
