A plan of Belgrade marking the city's defences and the positions of the batteries of the besieging Ottoman army, during the Russo-Austrian-Turkish War (1735-9). When the city fell after 51 days, it returned to Ottoman control for the first time since Eugene of Savoy had captured it for the Austrians in 1717.
The map was drawn by engraved by Gottfried Jacob Haupt (1715-66), one of only fifteen maps ascribed to him. He based it on a map of the 1717 siege by Ribro Couttas, an engineer in the Imperial army, published by Jean van der Bruggen.
