A paln of St Petersburgm with an extensive key of public buildings. It was published in 'St. Petersburgh: A Journal of Travels to and from that Capital' by Augustus Bozzi Granville.
Doctor Granville (1783-1872) left his native Milan to avoid being conscripted into Napoleon's army. He joined the Royal Navy as a assistant surgeon and married an Englishwoman in the West Indies, with whom he moved to London. He is credited with performing the first autopsy on an Egyptian Mummy which he described to the Royal Society of London in 1825. Working as an obstetrician he travelled to Russia in 1827 to care for Countess Woronzow.
