A Ptolemaic map of north-east Africa, with Libya, Egypt and the Nile, updated by Gerard Mercator using the flat projection named after him, 'Mercator's Projection'. It was published in his edition of Ptolemy's 'Geography', first state.
Of interest are the vignettes of a dragon, ostrich, chameleon and lion attacking a wild dog.
