A very scarce map of of Schlewig and Holstein, with eighteen townplans in panels down the sides, decorative cartouches for the title, scale and dedication, and a large armorial.
The map was surveyed by Johannes Mejer (1606-74) for Christian IV of Denmark (the overlord of the duchies) and engraved by Matthias & Nicolas Petersen Goldtschmide of Husum. It was first published as one of 40 maps in Danckwerth's 'Newe Landesbeschreibung der zwey Hertzogthümer Schleswich und Holstein' in 1652, as this example. The maps were reissued by Joan Blaeu in his Latin-text 'Atlas Major' in 1660, with text printed on verso.
